John Edwards, the Democratic nominee for vice president, will be in Athens this week as part of his Stronger America Bus Tour through Ohio and West Virginia. He will speak at 9 p.m. Wednesday on the steps of Baker University Center. Part of Union Street will be closed and gates to the area will be opened at 5 p.m., said Ohio Democratic campaign spokesman Brenden Cullen. More details about the street closing will be available later in the week. Tickets for the event are free and available at several places in the Athens area.
