Athens man sentenced to 25 years for producing child pornography

An Athens man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday after pleading guilty to producing child pornography.

Jason Hutchinson, 41, pleaded guilty to one count of using a minor to engage in sexually explicit conduct for the purpose of producing a visual depiction.

He was sentenced to the maximum 25 years at his sentencing hearing in the United States District Court for the Southern District of Ohio, according to the court’s docket.

Hutchinson was originally charged with two counts of producing and one count of possessing child pornography.

In his plea agreement, Hutchinson admitted to using a webcam to film himself and a 13-year-old engaging in various sexual acts at his Campbell Road residence in 2010.

That video and another one of Hutchinson performing oral sex on a 9- to 12-year-old was discovered after the FBI executed a search warrant on a sex offender in Boston to whom Hutchinson had sent the videos and other pornographic material.

Hutchinson was arrested at his residence on March 16, 2011.

He could have been sentenced to up to 70 years in prison if convicted of his three original charges at a trial.
