For an unusual romantic setting on Valentine's Day, let Afroman serenade your valentine tonight at the Blue Gator.
The voice behind the Grammy-nominated single Because I Got High is coming to Athens to help get an audience of lovers in the mood. Afroman, whose real name is Joseph Foreman, said despite his distaste for the Hallmark holiday, he's got a special valentine planned for the crowd -an X-rated adaptation of Eric Clapton's Wonderful Tonight.
It's going to be an Afroman valentine
Afroman said. It's every drunk dude's valentine. It's a chick's valentine too -she just won't admit it.
Afroman is spending this holiday on stage, but said his valentine back in Southern California is a little mad he has not gotten her a gift.
I've been on the road and drunk every night Afroman said. If I could I would
but I won't get anything to her before Monday. I've got a long text message to type.
Since the success of Because I Got High on his certified gold debut album, The Good Times
he has released a two-disk follow-up album titled, Afroholic... The Even Better Times. After claiming to move past the drug and alcohol references on the second album, Afroman said he has realized his fans would much rather hear his party side.
I'm just gonna keep it on party because I know people really don't want to hear Afroman on a soap box
Afroman said. They just wanna get drunk and party or whatever.
Afroman said once he gets off tour and is back in California, he plans to rekindle one of his favorite hobbies: low riding.
If I get home and the car doesn't give me too much a problem
I'm going to be doing some serious low riding
Afroman said.
Afroman will perform at 10 tonight. Admission is $10.
