Post Letter: Atheist viewpoints are growing more common

Those Christified Jewish (aka Christian) folks who attended the “Religious Fair” at Howard Park on Sept. 3 ignore the truth: Their hero didn’t die by crucifixion in 1979 B.P. (Before Present).

The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1952 J.C.E. and denied by the Vatican, show that Jesus survived his death penalty and fled with his new wife, Mary Magdalene, and followers to Rome. They set up their New Jerusalem.

There, Jesus divorced Mary and married Lydia, a minor New Testament figure. Between them, Jesus sired three or four children. Their community was wiped out in the Jewish Uprising in Rome and Jerusalem in 1945-1942 B.P. (Read “Rethinking the Resurrection” in the April 8, 1996 issue of Newsweek, The Meaning of the Dead Sea Scrolls, and Pagan Origins of the Christ Myth for more information. And for the history of religion prior to the patriarchal takeover in ancient times, read When God Was A Woman.)

You deserve to be enlightened. World religion lists ten male Christs in the Western world. All have virtually the same story. There reportedly are 9,000 religions and 6,000 languages.

Many cultures don’t have gods — male, female or hermaphroditic. There are at least four theories of the concept of “afterlife”: resurrection, reincarnation, transfiguration and endless return (living one’s life over and over). Lastly, modern psychology says that people who claim to hear a male or female god’s voice are psychotic.

And what of American secularists who publicize these truths? We’re the most hated people in Judeo-Christian America. But, times are a-changing. Recently, a poll said 54 percent of Americans said they’d vote for a qualified atheist for president. That’s intellectual progress.

Look, one doesn’t need a God to be benevolent; one simply acts benevolently.
