A gas leak at the new Ohio University student center construction site prompted the evacuation of three university buildings and a nearby house yesterday.
The leak started when construction workers were working on the main gas line and struck a branch line, said Jack Jeffery, OU spokesman. Scripps Hall, Sing Tao Center, Crewson House and 15 Park Place were evacuated at about 10:45 a.m.
Noise and smell from the leak could be detected inside Scripps Hall and other surrounding buildings.
