The Pick of the Week for week seven is the centerpiece design of Monday's paper, designed by Ashley Cappellazzi. This was a great example of concept-driven design and collaboration. The concept came about through brainstorming with writers and editors to get to the overall message of the story - that the maintenance backlog of university buildings hes been piling higher and higher. Instead of running a photo of a building, the page was able to convey that sense of the unstable accumulation of maintenance and the threat of everything falling apart. The page display itself was clean and well-designed to let the centerpiece have its day.

Design "Pick of the Week" is chosen by The Post design editor and highlights a graphic and/or page layout each week. Check back for more next Friday!
