The closer Ohio gets to the end zone, the more coach Frank Solich begins to worry.
Ohio has scored on just 73 percent of its red zone chances, putting the team in a tie for 98th in the country.
The absence of all-time leading rusher Kalvin McRae has been part of the problem.
In 2007, McRae broke his own school record with 19 rushing touchdowns; this season, Ohio has scored just eight touchdowns from inside the 20-yard-line.
Going into (the Kent State) game
I think we only had two rushing touchdowns inside the red zone said Solich. Our running game hasn't held up. We do not have a big back.
But against Kent State, Ohio scored on all four of its red zone chances.
Solich said one of the differences was the play of kicker Barrett Way, who was named MAC East Division special teams player of the week after hitting all four of his field goal attempts.
Barrett should have come out of that with a lot of confidence Solich said. It was big to show we could get down in the end zone and score.

said Solich. We're talking about some very smart and disciplined players.
Maybe I just won't talk about it and we'll see what happens.
