Post editorial board sinks to new low

The Opinion section of The Post has sunk to a new low.

The Feb. 1 editorial titled In Poor Taste

which criticized Vice President Dick Cheney for the outfit he wore to recent ceremonies in Poland remembering Holocaust victims, was the most preposterous piece of commentary I've read in a long time.

The editorial stated: Cheney was at the ceremony to convey America's empathy at the enormity of 6 million dead innocents. Instead he conveyed the message that he worries more about being cold... He was in Poland; of course he'd worry about being cold. There's nothing wrong with that.

This editorial is a perfect example of the mopey-dopey, sore-loser mentality that has Bush-haters across the United States nitpicking at trivial actions like wearing a parka in Poland during winter. Please, for the sake of intellectual thought, argue about something that matters.

No one has to like President Bush or his administration, but to criticize the vice president's clothing like Joan Rivers at the Golden Globes is simply childish. This editorial was a cheap shot and is a poor reflection on The Post's credibility in this reader's eyes.

So, I implore the editorial board to reconsider its juvenile attack on the vice president and leave issues regarding wardrobe malfunctions to Hollywood and halftime shows.
