MAC Notebook: Redhawks score 4th-quarter victory over Bulls

With its 31-28 win over Buffalo Saturday, Miami moved into a tie at the top of the Mid-American Conference East Division.

Led by quarterback Daniel Raudabaugh's 259 passing yards, the RedHawks (5-5, 4-1 MAC) were able to gain the advantage in any tiebreakers between the two teams that may be needed.

We feel good for a week

but we still got a long way to go Miami coach Shane Montgomery said about the win. We really would have put our backs against the wall if we had lost so it was a big win for us there.

Buffalo (4-6, 4-2 MAC) trailed 31-20 late in the fourth quarter until Drew Willy threw a 3-yard touchdown pass to Naam Roosevelt to cut into the lead. The Bulls got the ball back and drove into Miami territory, but Willy fumbled while being sacked, giving Miami the ball and the win.

Willy was very impressive all day for the Bulls, completing a school-record 33 passes for 217 yards.

Bowling Green (5-4, 3-2 MAC) beat Akron 44-20 to stay in contention in the East.

Quarterback Tyler Sheehan passed for 268 yards and two touchdowns, and running back Anthony Turner rushed for 104 yards in the victory. BGSU dominated all day against the Zips, leading by as many as 35 points in the fourth quarter.

(The Akron game) was probably our most complete game of the season

Falcons coach Gregg Brandon said. It's nice this time of year to be playing at that level.

Carlton Jackson was one of the few highlights for the Zips (3-6, 1-3 MAC), amassing 192 yards passing and 133 yards rushing.-

coach Tom Amstutz said about his team's offensive play.-
