Ohio rests after triple-header in preparation for Duquesne

During a stoppage in the third game of Ohio's triple-header against Ball State on Sunday, center fielder Willie Walker laid down in the outfield grass.

(The long day) was taking a toll on me

Walker said. As the games went on my legs were getting kind of tired. I had fouled one off my leg earlier and (my legs) were just tightening up.

Walker wasn't the only tired Bobcat after Ohio played 24 and 1/2 innings in a single day, but they won't have much time to recover as they face Duquesne this afternoon in Pittsburgh, Pa.

Coach Joe Carbone gave his players the option of taking yesterday off before they lift weights and hop on the bus to Pittsburgh, and after Sunday's games first baseman Marc Krauss said he looked forward to the break.

My body is pretty beat up right now Krauss said. I know all the guys are who were out there. It's definitely a grind on the mind

really

and your body. But we'll get a nice day off

and that'll be really nice just to stay off your legs for a day and get some energy back.

Ohio (12-16, 2-7 Mid-American Conference) heads into today's non-conference game against the Dukes (12-15, 4-5 Atlantic-10) after winning three of its last five, which included its first two wins in conference play.Around the horn

Two Bobcats earned their first-ever weekly MAC honors because of their performances in Ohio's five games last week.

Krauss, who leads Ohio with his .344 average, received the MAC East Division Player of the Week award only a week after being named to the College Baseball Foundation National Honor Roll. The freshman went 11-for-22, with five extra-base hits, seven RBIs and eight runs over the five-game stretch.

Zeke Isaacs earned the MAC East Pitcher of the Week honor, after earning his first win of the season in a two-inning relief appearance against Marshall as the Bobcats broke their nine-game losing streak.

Isaacs had a 2.57 ERA in two outings last week. The right-hander's second appearance was a five-inning, no decision start in the final game of Ohio's series against Ball State. The senior allowed two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts against the Cardinals Sunday.
