He's a CEO of video

Editor's Note: This is the final day of a two-week series highlighting remarkable Ohio University undergraduates. The 25 selected students come from the nominations of students, faculty, staff, administrators and Post staff.

In an industry where many people don't make it, Wesley Cronk has been successful, and just at the right time.

A lot of them (professors) say there is a 5 percent chance of success in getting a job (after graduation)

the 20-year-old sophomore telecommunications major said.

Already, Cronk is the CEO of two film companies and has been involved in several commercial and graduate thesis productions.

And it seems he's started his companies at an opportune time. Films can be shot cheaply on digital video. Apple Inc. has come out with editing programs that, not long ago, were used only in Hollywood, he said.

Everything is getting smaller G? and better Cronk said.

The production company the Honors Tutorial College student formed, White Crow Films, has not done well on timing alone, said John Veleta, an Ohio University HTC junior and a director of photography for the company.

There's an amazing amount of talent that's there he said. Everyone has found their niche.''

This isn't Cronk's first shot at a film company. In high school

he started a company

Arasian

and filmed weddings

other events and commercials. In 2005

Cronk and a group of students in related majors started White Crow Films.

A white crow is the Russian version of a black sheep

and for the company

it represents doing things in an original way. Eight members in the company have collaborated on independent short films and commercial projects

including a video for the synchronized swim team and university promotions.

Film majors in particular are encouraged to work on non-curricular projects independently
