Ohio University has announced new acts for its Fall Quarter Performing Arts Series, bringing in an even more diverse setlist with comedy, music, and a dash of advocacy.
Standup comedian and actor Aziz Ansari will roll into Athens Oct. 23 for An Evening with Aziz Ansari. The Los Angeles-based comedian/actor is well known for his role in the popular TV series “Parks and Recreation” and roles in “I Love You Man,” “Get Him to the Greek,” “Observe and Report” and “30 Minutes or Less.”
The show starts at 7:30 p.m. at Templeton-Blackburn Memorial Auditorium. Tickets are $35 for the first 10 rows and $25 for the remainder of the auditorium. Tickets go on sale to the public Sept. 2 at noon.
Janelle Monae will come to town as part of her Campus Consciousness Tour. Her act combines music and environmental advocacy. The goal of the tour, according to the Performing Arts Series website, is to leave “a positive impact on each community the tour visits.” The act also hopes to mobilize students and educate them about the environment.
Tickets for the Oct. 18 show start at $20 and go on sale Sept. 2 at noon.
The last addition to the itinerary is Mary Chapin Carpenter. The singer/songwriter has enjoyed decades of success, selling more than 13 million albums in her career and has five Grammy Awards to her name. She will be performing Oct. 16 in Mem Aud.
