The Kent State softball team dropped a 9-1 decision in the NCAA Tournament's Regional Semi-Final game against Oklahoma Saturday in Ann Arbor, Mich.
The Lady Flashes were smothered by the Sooner offense as Kent State ace Brittney Robinson was shelled for six runs and ten hits over three innings while senior Erin Christopher allowed three runs and six hits over two innings.
Kent's lone run came in the bottom of the third when sophomore Kim Hamilton scored from third on an infield single by fellow sophomore Jamie Fitzpatrick.
The loss marked the end of a historic season for the Flashes (33-24, 20-5 Mid-American Conference), who won both the MAC East Division and the MAC Tournament.
Kent also set a record for runs scored in a season with 242 and for postseason wins with five.
In addition to team records, several members of the squad received individual accolades. Robinson was named First Team All-MAC along with sophomores Jessica Toocheck, Kim Hamilton and Whitney Lebowitz. Senior Ashley Ball was named to the Second Team.
Robinson was also named MAC Pitcher of the Year thanks to one of the most dominating seasons in conference history. She shattered the MAC record for strikeouts, tallying 423.
Outside of the conference, three Flashes, Robinson, Fitzpatrick and Ball, were named to All-Mideast Region Second Team.
