Invincible season four trailer creates excitement for fans

After almost a year-long break, Amazon Prime’s “Invincibledropped the trailer for its fourth season.

The trailer opens to Mark Grayson/Invincible (Steven Yeun) suiting up in his Invincible costume as his mother, Debbie Grayson (Sandra Oh), seemingly tries to sway him into taking the night off from crime-fighting.

Invincible appears not fully healed from his back-to-back fights with the Mark variants, versions of himself from other timelines; along with fighting Angstrom Levy (Sterling K. Brown) and Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) as metal reminiscent of Robot’s body covers both the Invincible costume’s arms and left leg.

Throughout season three, Invincible and his younger brother Oliver Grayson (Christian Convery) had multiple conversations about why they do not take lives. In contrast to these conversations, Invincible and Oliver Grayson had a conversation toward the end of season three’s finale where Invincible said “If anyone else ever puts my family or anyone I love at risk, I won’t hesitate to kill them.”

The season four trailer shows Invincible revisiting this conversation, this time with Cecil Stedman (Walton Goggins), to which Stedman said, “That’s not who you are, Mark.”

Invincible seems to still be left traumatized from the events of the season three finale as he is shown to be waking up from a nightmare of memories from the event.

The end of season three hinted that Atom Eve’s (Gillian Jacobs) powers were functioning differently after she resurrected herself. The season four trailer shows that this will be further explored in the new season.

The goal for “The Guardians of the Globe” seems to be showing the people of earth can still rely on them after the events of the previous seasons. With the loss of Rex Spolde (Jason Mantzoukas) and other changes to the team there will be new dynamics to explore.

Fans have noticed that Invincibles' little brother’s purple colored skin looks considerably paler in the season four trailer than it did in previous seasons. This is like a sign that Oliver’s Thraxan DNA is dying off and his Viltrumite DNA is taking over. As the seasons progress it is likely that Oliver Grayson’s purple will be completely gone and his appearance will reflect that of a white human.

This season will feature new villains such as Thragg (Lee Pace), Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys) and Universa (Danai Gurira).

What fans seem to be most excited about is Invincibles’ father, Omni-man (J.K. Simmons) and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) coming to Invincibles’ house to get him to join them in preparing for the Viltramite war.

At one point in the trailer for the upcoming season, Debbie Grayson is seen opening the front door of the Grayson household to find Nolan Grayson standing there. The two have not interacted directly since Nolan’s abrupt leaving of Earth after he told Mark that he only loved Debbie Grayson as a pet.

That led to Nolan leaving Earth, marrying a Thraxan woman, having a child (Oliver) with her, subsequently asking Invincible to take Oliver to Earth for Debbie Grayson to raise after the woman died.

Debbie Grayson also has a new romantic interest in a man named Paul (Cliff Curtis). Overall, there is a lot to be unpacked when it comes to Nolan and Debbie Grayson’s relationship.

The trailer also shows a return of the yellow and blue version of the Invincible suit from earlier seasons of the show, instead of the black and blue suit Mark wears in season 3.

The first three episodes of Invincible season four premiere on March 18. After that, one episode will drop each week until the season finale airs on April 22.
