Board of Trustees chair and vice chair to visit Faculty Senate

Faculty Senate will host Ohio University’s Board of Trustees’ Chairwoman Sandra Anderson and Vice Chair David Brightbill to answer questions from senators and other faculty members Monday.

Elizabeth Sayrs, chair of Faculty Senate, said although the trustees have come to meetings before, this is the first time she sent out requests to the faculty at large for questions to ask them.

Faculty can email questions to Sayrs, and she has identified topics to discuss while the trustees attend the first 45 minutes of the meeting.

“I’m glad that I’m getting some (questions) from non-senators,” Sayrs said.

If this question forum works well, Sayrs said she will consider asking the faculty at large for questions before any special guests come to speak at future Faculty Senate meetings.

After the trustees leave, Sayrs will give senators a tour of the new Faculty Senate web page, which went live at the end of last week.

In addition, a resolution clarifying the relationship between the Educational Policy and Student Affairs Committee and the University Curriculum Council will go through a second reading.

The resolution will allow members of the Educational Policy and Student Affairs Committee also serve on the University Curriculum Council, with four members of the Educational Policy and Student Affairs Committee acting as liaisons to the University Curriculum Council.
