The regular season for Ohio ends this weekend, as the Bobcats will finish up their dual-meet schedule with two road contests.
This is our last opportunity to get some looks at certain individuals
certain events certain conditions and certain situations coach Greg Werner said. While we've seen quite a bit up until this point in the year
we're still gathering information.
Friday, Ohio will face Xavier (1-5) of the Atlantic-10 Conference. Although the Musketeers have struggled this year, Werner said this is no time to be complacent.
Any competition you have to be prepared for
Werner said. You never know when you go on the road
and you never know what you can expect and what you're going to get especially
this time of the year.
Along with Xavier, the Bobcats will face a whole different animal: their rivals. The Miami RedHawks (9-1) are fresh off a dual meet victory against defending Mid-American Conference champion Toledo - a team that beat Ohio earlier in the year.
They're the cream of the crop
Werner said. While they weren't the conference champions last year
they did finish ahead of us. ... We recognized a long time ago that they're probably the favorite this year to win the MAC title. Not only are the RedHawks a challenge, but Werner said anytime an Ohio team goes up against Miami, there is an extra level of intensity.
If you can't get excited for this competition against Miami
then you shouldn't be on the team
Werner said. This is a team and a university that we compete with for students
