Professor, musician publishes book

This Wednesday at noon, students will have the chance to learn about dance and the musical traditions of Ghana's four main ethnic groups from local professor and author Paschal Yao Younge.

Younge will be releasing his new Book Music and Dance Traditions of Ghana History, Performance and Teaching and DVD, Dance-Drumming Ceremonies of Ghana.

His most current publication not only focuses on 22 different types of music

and performances but also highlights historical, geographical, various cultural

perspectives, and social backgrounds of Ghana.

Younge will be selling and signing his book and DVD during the release on Wednesday and will also be supplying refreshments. The book will also be sold at local store Little Professor and online.

Younge is currently the associate professor of Multicultural Music

Education and the director of the annual International Summer Program in African Interdisciplinary Arts and is the co-Artistic Director of the African Ensemble at Ohio University. He has also directed the International Summer Program in African Culture Through the Arts program in Ghana for over 15 years.

The event is open to the public and will be held at the Multicultural Center in

Baker University Center in room 205 and will last until 1:30 p.m.
