A Little Hocking man charged with six counts of rape was released from police custody after his arraignment hearing Wednesday.
Alan Brigner, 34, pleaded not guilty to six counts of rape at his arraignment hearing in the Athens County Court of Common Pleas, according to a news release from the Athens County Prosecutor’s Office.
Prosecutor Keller Blackburn said in the release Brigner had non-consensual sexual contact with an individual six times between June 2011 and September 2012.
Judge L. Alan Goldsberry permitted Brigner to be released on his own recognizance after his hearing.
He is due back in court Feb. 21 for a preliminary hearing.
Brigner could be sentenced to a maximum of 60 years in prison and a maximum fine of $120,000 if convicted of all six charges at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
