Passion and fashion combined for a night of fundraising and reality TV gossip last night in the Baker University Center Ballroom.
Angela Keslar, of Bravo TV's Project Runway, spoke last night to a crowd of approximately 280 people, raising $1,400 for Passion Works, a division of Atco.
I think it went great
it was fabulous I'm so happy said Terry Mitchell, Art Consultant for Passion Works.
Passion Works is a non-profit art studio that allows people with and without developmental disabilities to create art together. Keslar became involved with Passion Works four years ago, raising money for the organization through design.
Passion Works is beyond words
said Keslar. Anything that goes to the heart of the matter and transcends words is dear to my heart.
Residence Life collaborated with Passion Works to coordinate the event. The fundraiser was Keslar's idea, and it took Residence Life about one month to plan the event, said Judith Piercy, Interim Director of Residence Life. Residence Life has adopted Passion as their departmental theme for the 2006-2007 year and will spend the year working with Passion Works, she said.
T-Shirts designed by Keslar were sold at the event for $24, with half the proceeds going to Passion Works.
Keslar spoke about her experience on Project Runway, commenting on clips of the show and answering audience questions, ranging from What have you been doing since Project Runway? to What's on your iPod?
Keslar told the audience her thoughts about the other contestants, and revealed some of the truth behind reality TV.
I was never mean on the show
so I'm going to be mean here
Keslar said.
Keslar said that 75 percent of what the audience saw was what really happened, mentioning that the producers of the show used voice-overs and selective editing to create the show.
It's not reality
Keslar said. It's reality TV.
Keslar also had words of advice for the audience, citing perseverance as the key to success.
Find what brings you unmeasured joy
there comes a confidence with that. Perservernce is the key
Keslar said.
Keslar signed autographs and posed for pictures with fans before and after the event.
I was kind of surprised
on the show she was my least favorite
