Sitting in the bleachers at the Ohio Softball Field, a jumble of voices can be heard from the field and dugouts, but one stands out. -
but she's a very vocal leader coach Jill Matyuch said. She's probably one of the most passionate people we have.
Salvatore has started 24 of Ohio's 25 games this season. She and Melissa Bonner lead the team in RBIs with 13 each. Salvatore is also one of five Bobcats with a triple this season and one of just three to hit a home run.
Matyuch said Salvatore's on-field play has made her more willing to give advice and talk during games.
Her junior and senior year she's really showed a lot of leadership and hasn't been afraid to speak up
Matyuch said. She's always had the energy
but she may not have been as vocal in the past. Obviously
her playing well ' starting and playing well ' it gives her credibility.
But she isn't the only one talking. Salvatore said communication is the key to success for Ohio.
I think when someone's down or something like that
we do a good job of shaking it off
Salvatore said. With communication and talking and being energetic
it really pumps everybody up. If you strike out
it's like
'All right
