Thread the Needle: Sunglasses inside? Absolutely.

It's true that the primary purpose of wearing sunglasses is to block the sun from our eyes – I get it. I also believe that there would not be a range of $4 sunglasses at Forever 21 to $400 Gucci sunglasses if this was the sole purpose they serve.

Joining the ranks of handbags and high heels, sunglasses have become an important part of the functional, yet fashionable staples. However, unlike their designer counterparts, sunglasses only get their moment in the sun when the wearer is actually  in the sun. We must rectify this inequality by starting a new trend – wearing sunglasses inside.

With fake prescription glasses in vogue, now is the time to make this trend happen.
If people who have 20/20 vision can wear prescription glasses, then I can certainly wear my sunglasses when it is not sunny.

Celebrities have been rocking this trend since the paparazzi existed in order to shield their eyes from photographs, but there are other practical reasons we average Joe’s would also wear sunglasses inside. For example, why should spying on someone through sunglasses be limited to the outdoors? If it was trendy to wear sunglasses inside, you could look at people without them knowing 24/7. Forehead zits are the worst, and I always feel the need to cover them with concealer, even though that clogs the pores even more and slows the healing process. Sunglasses would be the perfect zit cover up; no make-up needed. This could be a new strategy for sleeping in class without the professor noticing. I could finally stop getting sunglasses stuck in my hair when I push them up on my head just to ride the escalators in Baker. I have had so many hairstyles ruined from trying to get sunglasses unknotted from my hair.

With the rise of fake prescription glasses, Now is the time to implement this trend.
If people who have 20/20 vision can wear prescription glasses, then I can certainly wear my sunglasses when it is not sunny. Sunglasses are a way to express yourself, as well as a way to perform a function. Wearing sunglasses inside would increase functionality and provide a more inclusive way to show your style through sunglasses.
