Bobcats to play under the lights at home in 2006

Ohio Athletics Director Kirby Hocutt announced the times for the Bobcats' 2006 home football games Wednesday, and the Bobcats will again be spending some time under the lights of Peden Stadium this fall.

Three of the team's five home games will be night games, including the season-opener against Tennessee-Martin on Sept. 2, which is move-in weekend. Kickoff for that contest will be at 7 p.m. Other night games will take place Oct. 7 when Western Michigan visits Athens for a 7 p.m. matchup and Nov. 16 when Akron comes to battle the Bobcats in a 7:30 p.m. game televised on ESPNU.

Ohio also played three night games in Athens last season, but all three were televised on ESPN networks. No further plans for TV coverage of any of the Bobcats' contests have been announced.

Afternoon home games will take place Sept. 30, Parents Weekend, against Bowling Green and Oct. 21 against Buffalo, which is Homecoming weekend. Both games will begin at 2 p.m.

Ohio's Mid-American Conference opponents also have released times for the team's away matchups. The Bobcats first road trip of the season takes them to Northern Illinois for a 3:05 p.m. game Sept. 9. The team then travels to Kent State on Oct. 28 for a 4 p.m. contest and Eastern Michigan for a 1 p.m. kickoff on Nov. 4. Ohio closes out its 2006 campaign with a noon game at Miami on Nov. 24.

Game times for Ohio's non-conference road games against Rutgers (Sept. 16), Missouri (Sept. 23) and Illinois (Oct. 14) have not yet been released by the respective teams.
