Former Hudson Health Center works to shorten wait, change 'negative stigma'

Campus Care, formerly known as Hudson Health Center, has worked to improve the quality of service since its rebranding in August.

Previously aligned with Student Affairs, student health services now are overseen by the Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine.

Karoline Lang, director of communication of OU-COM, said the rebranding from Hudson Health Center to Campus Care was made to reflect the changes in the administrative process.

In conjunction with the college and student affairs

they are coming up with a new set of services that is called Campus Care. It is no longer Hudson Health Center she said.

Tonya Burdette, campus care director, said that although Campus Care has made great strides already this year, they hope to make even more.

We're moving at a glacial pace but we are making improvements. Our wait times have dramatically decreased ... being a student on campus

you have classes

you have obligations-you can't sit here for three hours

she said. We've decreased those times

even on our busiest days

to an hour and a half.

One of the greatest challenges Campus Care faces is providing consistent, quality care to students, Burdette said.

There's a negative stigma with Hudson Health ... when it comes to making changes we only want the positive so that when students come in and decide to give us a shot

we're prepared

she said.

Mike Radominski a sophomore with an undecided major, said that his past experiences with Hudson have been positive.

Each time I've gone to Hudson I made an appointment online and was seen pretty quickly by a nurse and doctor. ... I do have friends

though
