Northeastern Ohio band Eclyptic ventures down to Athens for the first time this weekend for Mill Fest tomorrow.
Eclyptic is a classic rock band with a funk and indie feel that was influenced by The Beatles and Lou Reed.
We just love playing music
said the band's front man, Derik Kroeze, a Kent State University student from Hudson. We'll play anywhere.
Three-time finalists and award winners at the Cleveland High School Rock Off, the band recently signed a management contract with FTF Records.
They've been helping us with all aspects of the music including performance image
MySpace
promotion
etcetera
Kroeze said.
The band also has a new album coming out in October, titled When the Night Calls it Quits.
Adam Korsvik, a freshman studying music production, said he is looking forward to Eclyptic's show.
From my point of view
they're great at what they do
Korsvik said. Derik has such a powerful voice.
Some other bands performing at the event will include The Dirty Napkins, an acoustic blues duo comprised of OU students Luke Miller and Trent Quatman from Lima, and Zapaño, an experimental ensemble covering Mars Volta tunes. Mister Got Heat, a local Athens indie rock band, will also take the stage and Funk You could also possibly perform.
Eclyptic drummer Eric Bobek from Streetsboro, Ohio, said that he is looking forward to having the opportunity to visit OU.
I've never been there and have heard a lot of good things
Bobek said.
Lead singer Kroeze said he is just looking forward to getting his music out there, rocking faces and making new fans.
