The first speaker in this year's Black History Month celebration was forced to cancel his presentation yesterday after record snowfall blanketed the Washington, D.C., area.
Larry Bryant, a former college football star from Norfolk State University, was set to present HIV/AIDS Prevention - A Choice and a Lifestyle! yesterday in the Baker University Center Theatre. The once top NFL prospect has worked to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS after being diagnosed with the disease as a freshman in 1985.
This weekend's blizzard, which has led to many event cancellations for Ohio University and its branch campuses over the past few days, caused Bryant's flight to be canceled.
A reschedule date has not been set for the event, but author Eric Etheridge is still set to speak at 7:30 p.m. tomorrow at the Baker University Center Ballroom.
