A spectacular career will come to an end this weekend. Second baseman Jenny Tisevich will play her last games for the Bobcats, as they travel to Buffalo to play the last three games of the season.
Tisevich has been a regular in Ohio's lineup since she was a freshman. During that 2002 season, she hit .391 in Ohio's last six games. During her sophomore campaign, Tisevich set a Bobcat record by blasting seven home runs. Last year, she batted .314 and was second on the team in hits and doubles. She also spent time pitching during the '03 and '04 seasons.
However, Tisevich's senior season has topped her first three years at Ohio. She stands seventh in the MAC with a batting average of .343 and is in the top six in 10 other offensive categories.
Tisevich said that it has not hit her yet that her career is about to come to a close.
This has been my life for so long and especially here at school
she said. This is day in and day out this is what you do. I mean I'm looking forward to the games this weekend. I really think we could sweep them
I really do.
Right fielder Kelly Barnhart will also be playing her final games as a Bobcat.
I don't want to say they're just like any other games
she said. But they are important games because I've played for so long
my whole life. I don't know what life is like without it. They mean a lot to me.
Ohio coach Roanna Brazier noted the importance of the games to Ohio's four seniors.
This is their last opportunity to be in the sun
she said. They're not going to play softball after this. They've paid their dues.
Buffalo (17-27, 8-8 MAC) is still alive in the race for the MAC Tournament. The Bulls are led by two starting pitchers, Sophie Barstad and Stacey Evans. The two hurlers have accounted for 275 and-a-third innings out of the Bulls 292 and-a-third innings pitched during the season. Barstad ranks 12th in the MAC in ERA (2.22) while Evans ranks 18th (2.49).
Buffalo pitchers do a good job at not trying to overpower their opponent but just hitting their spots and letting the defense do the work
Brazier said.
