For the last nine years, our government has shown disrespect time and time again toward American citizens. Our representatives have shown an inability to work with each other and an inability to run our country. We were lied to about going to war in Iraq, which cost us our country's financial stability. Under the Constitution, we the people have the right to call out these sleaze balls from Washington, D.C. and retake our country. I don't mean that in a violent way. I mean it in a peaceful way. People should start having town meetings and getting petitions signed. We need to regain our country.
Politicians have also shown that they can't be trusted with major corporations, banking systems, health care and Wall Street. These people are in their own private little world. They are like little children. Instead of finding a solution to our problems, they fight and try to undermine the other party.
This past weekend I happened to be on Mackinac Island in Michigan. Mitt Romney was there for a Republican Party fundraiser. I listened to him very carefully. He didn't talk about the American people and their problems, he and those in his party talked about how to undermine the opposing party. After Mitt gave his speech, I walked up to him for a handshake and a picture. This man has no class. Once he left the stage he was not the same person, I almost had to beg for a picture and a handshake. I wasn't paying $3,500 to see him. I simply happened to be there playing music.
Finally, his press manager came up and told him to take a picture. This man is from the band. All of a sudden Mitt had his big smile on and his arm around me. I thanked him, but he refused to even acknowledge me. His press agent took my e-mail address and said he'd send me the picture. Guess what? He didn't keep his word. Guess what else? These people are the same ones trying to tell us how to put morals back into our families. After I witnessed some of the representatives' behavior, I don't want their morality.
Osama bin Laden was on television right after 9/11. He said he was going to destroy us. He has done this. He has bankrupted America's and the world's economies. Our great leaders couldn't figure this out. In a presidential debate, John Kerry told George Bush that Congress needs to get out of Iraq, go back and take care of business in Iran. Did they listen? Did they listen to the American people about all the bailouts? Congress could have created loans to the American people themselves so they could save their homes, but no. Instead, Congress trusted our banks to get it done. If they would have paid people's houses off and rewrote loans between the taxpayers and the government, our problems just might have been solved. The banks would have been paid for all the bad paper work, the citizens would not have lost their homes and the economy just might have been stabilized once again. But due to all the sleaze ball lobbyists, our officials caved in to Wall Street, the auto industry and the banking industry.
As far as health care reform, my father predicted this 25 years ago. He sold medicine for 48 years before he died. We must have a public option or offer Medicare. It runs smoothly and would also create competition, thus bringing down prices. Believe me, the lobbyists don't want this to happen, so they hire groups to undermine any chance of passing a bill. We have had it for 40 years, but our politicians keep right on rolling, trying to get sound bytes against each to gain leverage for the upcoming elections.
Once again, all of these things I mentioned show that our government can no longer be trusted. I say to all that read this, call your friends and relatives and let's all unite with each other. Let's reclaim our country and get rid of all the rubbish in Washington. I love my country and there are so many good people in it. It is now the time to react. We can't wait.
