Darth Vader actor dies from COVID-19; OU student sues university after forced leave of absence due to mental health disability

Today is Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

David Prowse, actor who played Darth Vader in the first Star Wars trilogy and former bodybuilder, has died at age 85.

His daughter, Rachel Prowse, confirmed that the cause of death was due to COVID-19 complications. In an interview with UK’s The Sun, Rachel stated that her father had been hospitalized for the past two weeks.

“It’s horrible that COVID-19 restrictions meant we did not get to see him or say goodbye,” Prowse stated. She also confirmed that coronavirus restrictions will prevent the family from holding “a celebration of life,” adding “we are not able to do the send-off we wanted for him.”

Mark Hamill, who played Luke Skywalker, posted an Instagram tribute to Prowse -- calling him a “kind man & much more than Darth Vader.”

“May the force be with him, always!” said his agent Thomas Bowington.
