Football: Theo Scott talks injury, refs

Theo Scott pulled no punches when talking about everything from his injury to how Ohio State will fare against the University of Southern California this weekend. Scott broke his collarbone on a hard hit by an Ohio State defender and had surgery to repair the compound fracture on Monday. He was all ready back on the field for Ohio's practice on Tuesday with his arm in a sling. Here's what he said in an interview with reporters after practice.

On how he's doing:It is what it is. I can't do anything about it. It's just one of those freaky accidents. I'm just staying positive and refocusing on my teammates. I'm just basically being a coach right now, keeping guys motivated and having fun. That's all you can do right now is think positive and win a MAC championship. I'm trying to get a ring although I'm physically not able to.

On what it's like to work so hard during the offseason and have to sit out. Life's too short to be moping about that. Right now, I'm thinking about how to get better, how I can get back on the field as soon as possible. I'm not thinking about it, to me it's like being a quitter. On why he was at practice: Part of me thinks I'm still feels like I'm in the game, as long as I'm on the sideline. They wanted me at my house right now, resting up for the past couple of days, but I can't do it. I need to be out here with my guys, these are like my brothers out here.

On how the surgery went:The doctors said I'm out for the season, but that's just doctor words. Right now, I'm just going to take it day-by-day and see how I feel. I'm feeling real well, They expected me to have pain. Coming out of surgery I don't think they expected me to come out this hard. The pain really is not there.

On the other quarterbacks:When it comes to the field, you're going to compete. All the guys want to play, they want to be the guys starting, but at the same time you have to be the bigger guy. 'I hope he gets hurt, I hope he does this, because I want to shine. It's not about that. We sat down and had a talk and it's about the Ohio Bobcats. Right now

as quarterbacks we're on the same page. If someone's struggling you have to pick them up. When we're off the field we're all close we're all brothers.

On the play that he was injured on:I remember it like it was yesterday. I was in the pocket I see the guy coming and felt like he had a pretty good angle on me and I threw the ball away

trying to make the smart play. I really wasn't expecting him to come up and tackle me like that. I thought he was just going to push me. I felt it was unnecessary.

On if the refs should have thrown a flag:Yeah. They were terrible refs to me. There were a lot of missed calls in that game. Ohio State

it was their refs

they didn't call a lot of stuff. As far as the punt return that they returned for a touchdown? Clipping in the back. It was so clear for the refs. We can't have that. That's a big game

you've got to understand

guys wanted that. We've been waiting for that game. It was a heartbreaker when you have to fight against refs that are cheating. It hurts more. It just pisses me off when people cheat and can't play fair.

On how OSU will fare against USC:I wish them the best of luck against USC

although in my personal opinion

I don't think they're ready. I have a lot of my ex-teammates from high school that play for (the Trojans) and I know how they play. Saturday

it's going to go down. They're going to get exposed. I'm sorry
