OU to provide transportation to student's wake

Ohio University will bus as many as 50 students to Dover, Ohio tomorrow for Matthew Morris' wake.

Morris was a sophomore who died of a suspected suicide last week in Gamertsfelder Hall.

Transportation is free, and students can request a spot on the bus by e-mailing their name, e-mail address, personal identification (PID) number and cell phone number to Dean of Students Ryan Lombardi at deanofstudents@ohio.edu by no later than 8 a.m. tomorrow. Students attending the wake will meet outside the first floor of Baker University Center. The bus will leave from there at 2 p.m. and is expected to return at about 10 p.m.

Those attending will need to get excused from class, but OU will provide verification that a student attended the service to professors who request it, Lombardi said.

Morris' funeral service is at 11 a.m. Wednesday, but OU will only provide transportation tomorrow, he said.

Morris was a sophomore studying sociology and criminology from Somerdale, Ohio. He died early last Thursday morning in his residence hall room, according to the police report.

He was just a really nice guy; everyone really liked him

said Matt Bemer, Morris' resident assistant, in a previous Post article. He always had a smile on his face; he was really friendly ... obviously (his death) has affected a lot of people.
