Ryan Dunn has a habit of writing distasteful feature pieces for The Post. Yesterday, I'm sorry to say, I was not surprised to see his story about shooting guns in Lancaster once again pollute the front page of our college newspaper. The newspaper, which should be a beacon of free speech and truth, has once again stooped to a new low. I voiced disdain last spring when Dunn was allowed to do a feature about knife fighting. So how can he out do himself now? Ah yes! Guns! Big guns! AK-47s! The issue of the Crawford RA being allowed to use University money for this type of activity aside, aren't students in college to expand their minds so as not to resort to violence or play with guns? But wait ' students skipped classes to take part in this outing!
Our culture and newspaper have perpetuated stereotypes even further, forcing young men to feel as though they must shoot a sniper rifle to now be considered a man. The RA considers following this up with skydiving ' perhaps. But may I suggest teaching intolerance and hate instead? And of course, Ryan Dunn will be there to pen another poor piece on it. The NRA would be so proud. OU (and The Post), on the other hand, should be ashamed.Bradley Evans is a sophomore studying broadcast journalism.
