The Ohio men's golf team will begin the University of Dayton Fall Invitational Monday, a two-round event that is being held at the NCR Country Club in Kettering, Ohio.
Coming off of a seventh place finish at the Bearcat Invitational, the Bobcats are looking to place higher today.
Chad Warmbein, Tim Gusweiler, Stewart Jamieson, Paul Grauer, and Phil Gieseker are the five golfers who coach Bob Cooley decided to take with him to Kettering.
Warmbein and Gieseker did not make the trip last week, and Grauer led the team with a 10-over-par 226. Jamieson came in at 12-over par and Gusweiler finished at 13-over par.
For the Bobcats to have a good showing, their short game will need to be stellar.
It's a major championship style golf course and the best one we will play all year
said Warmbein. We've been looking forward to playing here and I expect big things from our team.
Our short game is something we always spend time on in practice, said Warmbein referring to improvements made for the tournament today.
As difficult as the conditions may be
Warmbein is confident
both in himself and in the team as a whole.
I'm expecting myself to really compete for the top spot, he said. As always, I expect big things from everyone else too. We have a close team, and I really do see lots of potential when I look at the guys we have.
