Ohio Board of Regents named Regent Vinny Gupta as the interim chair of the board during Monday’s meeting.
Gupta, who will replace outgoing Chair James Tuschman, fills one of the three vacancies on the board. His term will run until March 31, 2013, according to a news release.
“I’m happy to serves as interim chair for the board,” Gupta said. “I am eager to see where our recent efforts in commercialization and college completion will take us as we move into 2013.”
Outgoing Regent Tuschman headed the Board’s recommendation for the smoking ban across college campuses in the state of Ohio and served on the board since 2004, twice as chair, when he was appointed to the position by former Gov. Bob Taft, according to the news release.
Other members leaving the board include James Patterson, vice chair and chair of the Shared Services Subcommittee since 2005, and Walter Reiling Jr. who served two terms as secretary of the Board, and co-chaired the Board’s University System Communications Working Group.
