Much like Kenny Perry at last weekend's Masters, Ohio's Megan Weaver couldn't secure a win in a playoff.
The freshman tied for second place in the Falcon Invitational after falling to Toledo's Michelle Hui in the three-way playoff, with Hui's teammate Georgina Hunt also falling in the playoff. The three were forced to go to extra holes after they shot a 157, 13 over par, through the two rounds of the tournament.
I was definitely a little nervous heading into that playoff
Weaver said. With me being a freshman shooting to be a medalist it was just surreal.
Although she lost, Weaver earned her first top-5 finish of her career and also had her career-best round on Tuesday with a 76. Weaver shot an 81 on yesterday.
I was so proud of her attitude and composure over the last two days coach Kelly Ovington said. For her to do that as a freshman
it makes the performance even more special.
The Bobcats weren't able to overtake Toledo for the tournament championship either. Ohio came into the day trailing the Rockets by five strokes and finished the tournament in second place, seven strokes behind their MAC opponent. Ohio shot 646, 70-over par, for the tournament.
Our girls played very well for the conditions we were put through during this tournament
Ovington said. We were very mentally sharp throughout the entire time.
Ovington said that the weather wasn't as rainy as it was Tuesday, but the temperature had dropped and the winds picked up.
Wednesday was definitely harder
Weaver said. The winds were blowing harder
making it more difficult to hit it where we wanted to.
With this being the final tournament before the MAC Championships, the Bobcats are feeling confident.
We've been through so much
Weaver said. I believe what we've been through the last month has made us ready for anything.
