After a crushing loss to Northwestern the night before, Ohio cruised to a straight set win over UW-Green Bay.
The Bobcats had the advantage from before the first whistle blew. They put their talents on display early as they were able to score at a high rate recording a .386 attacking percentage in the first set as well as a .452 attacking percentage in the second set. Ohio used this dominant scoring performance to seal a straight set victory over the Phoenix.
Ohio looked as if it was going to cruise to an easy double digit win in the first set as they started the set with an 8-2 lead. They would hold a consistent five to six point lead throughout the rest of the set before taking a 25-18 set win.
Toward the end of the set Ohio seemed to let their foot off the gas pedal, but never enough to let UW-Green Bay back into the game. With a .386 attacking percentage in the set, the Bobcats were just warming up.
They would continue to use the momentum they gained in the first set into the second frame. This time though Ohio would not let their foot off the pedal as they stomped out the Phoenix. The Bobcats scored with ease in the second frame compiling 16 kills as a team in route to a .452 attack percentage.
UW-Green Bay was able to hang with Ohio early in the set as they trailed 11-9 midway through. From there it was all Ohio, as a kill from senior outside hitter Kelly Lamberti sparked a 14-3 run for the Bobcats as they closed out the set 25-12. The 13 point margin in the set was the largest of the season to date.
Lamberti led all players with 19 kills on the night while only compiling three errors on the night.
Senior middle blocker Hannah Burkle had her best game as a Bobcat thus far with 11 kills to go along with four block assists and a service ace.
The final set would not be as decisive for Ohio as they had to grind out a back and forth set. Unlike their previous sets, they weren’t able to score at will like the previous two frames.
Despite the fact the Bobcats weren’t as dominant as the previous two sets, they were able to find a way to win the set 25-22 on their way to a straight set victory.
For the first time this season, redshirt junior outside hitter Chelsea Bigler saw time on the floor. She sat out most of last season with an injury and has just now able to come back. She recorded four kills as she still works her way back to the form she was in two years ago when she was received All-MAC First Team honors.
