Sheriff's deputies arrested a local man last week after a 17-year-old girl reported that he had raped her.
Chad E. Browning, 29, of 4650 Campbell Road, was charged with rape on Tuesday. Browning has a criminal record dating back to 1998, which includes a domestic violence charge in 2007, according to Municipal Court records.
The 17-year-old said Browning drove her to a field near Salem Road and raped her. She had minor injuries, according to the police report.
Browning said he went to the field and that the young woman performed oral sex on him, according to the report. Municipal Judge William Grim ordered Browning held on a $100,000 bond at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. He is also charged with several traffic violations, including Operating a Vehicle Impaired.
Browning will appear before Judge Grim for a preliminary hearing at 9:30 a.m. Friday.
