Three men arrested for January assault

Three men were arrested as the result of an investigation by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office into the assault and robbery of an elderly woman in January.

Brandon Baker, 19; Colin Stout, 20; and Christopher Flemming, 20, allegedly attacked Ota Vincent, 82, at her residence on Brandeberry Road in Coolville on Jan. 24.

The three men allegedly attacked Vincent during the night, severely beat her and stabbed her in the neck and shoulder area before robbing her, according to a release from the Athens County Sheriff’s Office.

Vincent, who was disoriented after the event and was not able to call 911 for several hours, was transported to Camden Clark Memorial Hospital in Parkersburg before going to a Columbus hospital for months of rehabilitation, according to the release.

Det. Jack Taylor of the sheriff’s office investigated the incident and obtained arrest warrants for the three men Tuesday.

Fleming and Baker were arrested at their joint residence in Belpre and Stout was arrested at his residence in Coolville.

Baker and Stout have been charged with aggravated burglary and felonious assault. Fleming has been charged with complicity to commit aggravated burglary and felonious assault.

All the charges are first-degree felonies. Baker, Stout and Fleming could each be sentenced to a maximum of 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $40,000 if convicted at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.

All three are currently being held at the Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail and will be arraigned in Athens County Municipal Court via video Wednesday.
