William Shakespeare's magical play about a shipwreck will dock at Elizabeth Evans Baker Theatre tonight, with an Ohio University student at the helm.
In his thesis project, OU student director Andrew Felt will guide Shakespeare's play The Tempest. The comedy is about a storm at sea that shipwrecks a king and his entourage on a strange island inhabited by Prospero, the magician who deliberately produced the storm.
We've all put in a lot of hard work
our director is amazing and our stage crew is great said Katie Reed, a senior who is playing Ariel Light, a sprite that carries out Prospero's bidding.
The play has benefited from Felt's hard work, Reed said.
He's just extremely talented extremely easy to work with and he respects actors
she said.
The Tempest, which incorporates both action and magic, translates well to the stage, Reed added.
It's a spectacle
it really is
she said. There are a lot of special effects and the costumes are outrageous.
The play begins at 8 p.m. tonight and will continue through Saturday. It will continue next week from May 13 to 16. Tickets are free for OU students with an OU ID, $7 for senior citizens and non-OU students, and $10 for general admission.
