Ohio will look to get some momentum as it starts Mid-American Conference action following a rough set of games to close nonconference play.
Despite the Bobcats losing four straight games, coach Aaron Rodgers knows they are capable of solid play.
“We know the quality of the team that we have," Rodgers said. "The players have been working hard. It was proven over the first part of the season. Every season has ebbs and flows. It’s up to us as a group to stay positive.”
The Bobcats open in the conference with two straight home games, starting with Eastern Michigan on Friday.
The Eagles (3-5-1) are in a similar position to that of Ohio, as they’ve lost two straight.
In this game, the Bobcats are looking to get out in front early.
“We definitely want to come out and score first,” forward Allie Curry said. “Lately, we’ve been getting scored on earlier, and we’ve been shutting down after that, so I just think coming out within the first fifteen minutes and putting a goal away is big.”
The player to watch for in that game for Eastern Michigan is Sabrina McNeill, who has two goals and 12 shots on goal this season.
The only common opponent between the two teams is Butler, who Ohio beat for the first time in program history this year, 1-0. Eastern Michigan lost to Butler 1-0.
Kickoff will be Friday at 7 p.m. at Chessa Field.
Following that game, Ohio plays Central Michigan on Sunday. The Bobcats will celebrate their 20th anniversary.
The Chippewas (5-2-1) are winners of three straight and are currently second in the MAC West Division.
Lexi Pelafas leads Central Michigan with six goals and 15 shots on goal.
Kickoff will be Sunday at 1 p.m. at Chessa Field.
