The City of Athens Engineering and Public Works have announced a tentative milling and paving schedule for its summer 2011 street improvements.
The dates and areas are as follows:
July 18-19 – Community Center (main drive and East parking lot)
July 20-21 – Home (From East State to Lincoln)
July 22, 25 – Briarwood (From 46 Briarwood to Columbia)
July 25-26 – Maplewood (From Wallace to Lloyd)
July 26-27 – Verona (From Lloyd to East State)
July 28-29 – West Washington (From Court to Congress; asphalt removal only)
July 28-29, Aug 1 – West Union (From Foster to Shafer)
Aug. 2-4 – Shafer (From West Union to West State)
Aug. 4-5 – Coss (From Stewart to end)
Aug. 8-9 – East Union (From Stewart to end)
The contractor, York Paving Company, Inc., will work from about 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. While one-lane traffic will be utilized, motorists are encouraged to avoid the areas listed, according to a news release.
Parking on the street will not be allowed during the scheduled work.
