An Ohio University student told police Monday that two men raped her after forcing her into their vehicle in a Riverpark Towers parking lot Sunday night.
The female student reported that two men forced her into a black, four-door Sedan at about 10 p.m. in the parking lot across from Pickering Hall, according to a campus crime alert.
Both men are described as white and in their early twenties. One had shoulder-length, bushy brown hair and was wearing a hooded Ohio sweatshirt and blue jeans. The other had a Buckeyes baseball cap, a hooded grey sweatshirt and blue jeans. He also wore a metal
link-style bracelet according to the alert.
After the assault, the men pushed the woman outside the vehicle, according to the alert.
No representatives from the Athens City Police Department were available at press time. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 592-3313 or contact Crime Solvers Anonymous at 594-3331.
The Ohio University Police Department released the crime alert, but APD is conducting the investigation, said OUPD Chief Andrew Powers.
Students shouldn't have to fear walking alone, Powers said, adding that concerned students should travel in groups and stick to well-lit areas.
Tragically this kind of thing serves a reminder that these things can happen even in a community where we feel relatively safe
he added.
