Police arrested an Ohio University student for inducing panic on South Green late Wednesday night.
Ryan Beil fired an Airsoft Rifle in Atkinson Hall at about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, Ohio University Police Chief Andrew Powers said. A witness noticed what looked like a gun sticking out of the waistband of Beil's pants, and called the police, Powers said.
This is a great example of an astute witness who was attentive
saw something suspicious and called the police right away he said.
Beil likely will be charged with a first-degree misdemeanor, which carries a maximum of 180 days in prison, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
