At tomorrow’s meeting, Graduate Student Senate will have two guest speakers and unveil a new dental plan.
Bobcats for a Conflict-Free Campus will present to GSS about collaborating on recent initiatives to bring conflict-free electronics to campus.
Sebastian Hurtado Torres, a representative for the Presidential Advisory Council on Disability and Accessibility Planning, will present his ideas for making the university more accessible to students with disabilities to GSS. The senate has worked with accessibility initiatives before, including the ramp that was built in front of Campus Care this summer.
GSS members have collaborated with a dental service provider to offer OU’s undergraduate and graduate students an opportunity to have dental health coverage. The final draft will be voted on tomorrow. If it passes, the plan will become available immediately, GSS President Tracy Kelly said. The plan evolved after many students approached members of the Graduate Student Senate with concerns about the cost of the dental health care they were receiving.
“We wanted to put together something for students, a package that would allow them to go ahead and sign up at a reduced price,” Kelly said.
GSS meets bi-weekly at 7 p.m. in Walter Hall 235.
