E-mail over non-contagious disease still raises concerns

Concerns swirling around East Green about a freshman with a soft tissue infection prompted university officials to send a mass e-mail about the woman's condition Friday, but few details were made available other than the woman was not contagious. -

and a couple of kids told their parents said a female resident. Their parents were worried so they called the university and I guess that's why they sent the e-mail.

Residents said they begana to hear about the infection early last week and were not surprised to see an ambulance outside the dorm Thursday night.

Students outside of East Green were confused and slightly alarmed by an e-mail that stressed the disease is not contagious.

Why e-mail us to inform us it's not contagious and doesn't really affect us? said Pat Mitchell, 18, a freshman, at Baker University Center yesterday.

They said it like 20 times

said Steve Sublett, 18, a freshman, at Baker University Center yesterday, referring to the number of times not contagious was mentioned in the e-mail.

The student remains at OSU Medical Center, according to the press release.
