Faculty Senate’s first meeting of the year will offer a summer update and presentations from Ohio University’s president and provost.
Joe McLaughlin, Faculty Senate chair, will update the senators on the responses of Executive Vice President and Provost Pam Benoit to a number of resolutions passed at the end of Spring Quarter.
OU President Roderick McDavis and Benoit both will present at the meeting.
McLaughlin also will discuss Faculty Senate’s last few presentations to OU’s Board of Trustees. Faculty Senate’s executive committee met for an annual meeting with Board of Trustees Chair C. Robert Kidder and Vice Chair Gene Harris in June.
In September,McLaughlin and Elizabeth Sayrs, Faculty Senate’s vice chair, attended the combined trustee meeting and retreat in Columbus.
Both McLaughlin and Sayrs were part of a panel on academic quality and what trustees can do to monitor the quality of education and research at OU, McLaughlin said.
McLaughlin said Monday’s meeting also will look ahead at the upcoming year.
“I expect each of the committee chairs will give a report on what they have started talking about or a report on what they see the big issues this year for their committee,” he said. “The first meeting of the year is always a sort of looking-ahead kind of meeting — not heavy with business.”
All meetings Fall Quarter will be held in Walter Hall 235 at 7:10 p.m.
