An Athens man will spend three years in prison for sexually molesting his niece after taking a plea agreement with the Athens County Prosecutor's Office today.
Jordan Linton, 26, pleaded guilty today to one count of gross sexual imposition before Athens County Court of Common Pleas Judge Michael Ward.
Linton was charged in March for sexually molesting his 11-year-old niece, after he and the victim were interviewed by Athens Police Officers.
Linton was arrested and taken to Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail in April. He spent three days in jail until his mother, Tamera Linton, posted his $5,000 bond.
As part of the agreement Linton will spend three years in prison. After his release Linton will be on probation for five years.
Gross sexual imposition is a third-degree felony, which carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison.
Linton is required to register as a Tier II sex offender, which means he will have to register his location with police every six months for 25 years.
Linton is due back in court to be sentenced Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.
