Accused rapist arrested in West Virginia

A 33-year-old man accused of raping a 13-year-old girl in Hockingport, Ohio was arrested early this morning by police in West Virginia.

Jimmy P. Haddox, a homeless man from West Virginia, was arrested by Vienna Police at 12:06 this morning. Police were given an anonymous tip that he was on 41st Street in Vienna. He was arrested and charged with being a fugitive from a different county, said Vienna Chief of Police George Young.

Haddox’s last known residence was in Vienna.

A warrant was issued from his arrest in Athens County yesterday after he allegedly raped a 13-year-old Coolville girl in Wednesday. Haddox was visiting a resident of Jet Star Drive in Hockingport when the incident occurred. He then fled to West Virginia.

Haddox is charged with rape and his bond is set at $1,000,000.

He is currently in North Central Regional Jail in West Virginia and will be transferred to Athens after his eradication hearings, Young said.

The case was being investigated by the Athens County Sheriff’s Office and Athens County Children Services.

Rape is a first-degree felony. Haddox could spend a maximum of 10 years in prison and pay a maximum fine of $20,000 if convicted at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
