The Shade man's arrest for tampering with evidence Thursday is related to the body found in a burning car off of Chase Road, Athens County Sheriff officials confirmed.
Steven N. Dougan, 27, of 130 U.S. Highway 33, is being held on $500,000 bond and remains in Southeastern Ohio Regional Jail. So far his only charge is tampering with evidence, Sheriff Pat Kelly said.
Dougan has a criminal record dating back to 2000 which includes multiple felonies and parole violations.
The body was taken to the Montgomery County Coroner's Office where an autopsy will be done soon.
