A 53-year-old man faces up to eight years in prison after allegedly beating a woman Monday.
Michael L. Boivin was charged with one count of felonious assault for allegedly putting Kimberly Hiers in the hospital, according to court documents.
No address is listed for Boivin on his court documents.
The charge stems from an incident in Athens County on Monday when Boivin allegedly beat Hiers in the face and upper body, causing damage to her eyes and facial bones.
Hiers was taken by Lifeflight to Grant Medical Center in Columbus, according to court documents.
Boivin appeared in Athens County Municipal Court on Tuesday and Judge William Grimm set his bond at $50,000. No plea was entered for the charge, according to court documents.
Boivin could be sentenced to a maximum of eight years in prison and a maximum fine of $15,000 if convicted of the charge at a trial, according to the Ohio Revised Code.
He is due back in court Feb. 7 for a preliminary hearing.
