Wide receiver LaVon Brazill has impressed his coaches and teammates throughout the spring, and he opened some more eyes in Saturday's spring game.
The sophomore, who played in seven games late last season when starter Matt Donahue went down with a hand injury, showed off his dazzling speed when he caught a Theo Scott pass over the middle of the field and seemed to turn on another gear. Brazill eventually turned the ball up field before getting knocked out of bounds for a 36-yard gain, the longest of the day.
It is the type of play that has continually astonished his teammates on both sides of the ball.
Last year I heard he was doing a little bit here and there
quarterback Boo Jackson said. This spring he looks great. I've had some receivers that compare to him but coming out here and seeing his speed his athleticism
the way that he catches the ball so smooth
it's just crazy.
I have never seen that before.
Brazill finished with three catches for 58 yards.
As a freshman
Brazill had 16 receptions for 201 yards. But now that he has a year of experience under his belt
and after a spring of working with wide receiver Taylor Price and wide receivers coach Dwayne Dixon
Brazill is ready for a breakout season.
I was coming out here everyday and practicing hard, Brazill said. I know a lot more, I have more experience.Special teams
Kicker Paul Belany and punter Matt Schulte also performed well on Saturday.

converted both a 33-yard and a 36-yard field goal in place of senior kicker Barrett Way
who sat out with a tweaked leg muscle.
